Baby Shower Gift Basket ~ Homemade Baby Food

Baby food making supplies gift basket. Original idea for this gift was found via Martha here.

My basket included a mini food mill (from Linens N things - almost everyone at the shower wanted one of these, so just letting you know the source), steamer, strainer, labels, plastic storage containers, freezer trays, baby bowls, baby spoons, homemade bibs, slotted spatula spoon (had to buy one of these for myself as well - it's probably the only Le Creuset I'll ever be able to afford), and the Top 100 Baby Purees recipe book.

The mommy-to-be would most likely not consider herself a Martha Stewart type, but she is an excellent cook. She is also a very thorough cook. I watched her (and helped some) on many Sundays cook components of meals for the entire week - things that take longer than would be feasible to make on a weeknight. For example, she would make refried beans from scratch. Then, during the week, she could fix the rest of the components of a Mexican meal, and not have to scrimp on flavor by using canned beans.

Anyway, I just figured this gift would allow her to whip up some baby friendly foods at her convenience, and save them for later in the fridge or freezer. Using the tiny food mill saves from hauling out the food processor, which I personally loathe using and cleaning. The gift seemed well-received, and was fun to put together.
